In-Company Trainings for Engineers

Strong engineering teams need more than technical expertise.

Your engineers are increasingly expected to manage clients, scope, priorities, decisions and other people — often without practical preparation for that part of the job.

CTD provides practical in-company training for engineers who are taking on broader project and business responsibility.

Every programme is connected to your projects, roles and working methods, so participants can apply what they learn directly in their work.

The technical work has not disappeared.

More work has appeared around it.

You are still expected to deliver sound engineering.

But now you also need to:

  • clarify what the client actually needs;

  • explain the consequences of late input or changing requirements;

  • turn technical risks into decisions;

  • protect scope, planning and quality;

  • coordinate colleagues without doing everything yourself;

  • advise people who do not share your technical background.

These are often called “soft skills”.

There is nothing soft about an unclear scope, a delayed decision or hundreds of unplanned engineering hours.

You need practical business skills that fit the reality of technical projects.

What would help you move forward?

Business Skills Academy

STRUCTURED ONLINE DEVELOPMENT

Your role has grown beyond technical delivery. Your development should grow with it.

The Business Skill Academy helps engineers build practical skills for clients, projects, decisions and growing responsibility. At their own pace, but always connected to situations they recognise from technical work.

No generic theory about confidence or communication styles.

You learn what to do when client input arrives late, the scope starts to move, a technical recommendation does not lead to a decision or responsibility is unclear.

The Academy helps you practise how to:

  • manage client expectations;

  • communicate technical risks and recommendations;

  • handle scope changes and commercial boundaries;

  • influence decisions without playing politics;

  • create clarity around ownership and priorities;

  • step into broader project or lead-engineer responsibility.

Suitable for Freelancers & Employer funded development.

IN-COMPANY TRAINING

For technical teams

When the same problem keeps appearing across several projects, an individual tool is not enough.

Your engineers may need better client conversations.

But they also need shared language, clear decision space and support from the organisation. Otherwise, the training ends and the old project pressure takes over again.

CTD's in-company training uses real or anonymised engineering cases. Participants practise the conversations, decisions and agreements they need in their own work. Current training topics include:

Protect the Scope

Help engineers recognise additional work, discuss the consequences and confirm clear agreements before scope changes affect planning, budget or quality.

Influence Decisions — Like an Engineer

Help engineers present technical advice in a way that makes criteria, trade-offs, risks and the required decision clear.

Help Your Client — as an Engineer

Help engineers clarify what the client needs, manage expectations and advise without becoming overly accommodating or sales-driven.

Lead a High-Performing Technical Team

Help lead engineers create clarity around outcomes, responsibilities, quality and review moments — without becoming the team's bottleneck.

Coaching & Mentoring

PERSONAL SUPPORT FOR REAL SITUATIONS

Some situations do not fit inside a template.

You may be preparing for a difficult client conversation, stepping into a lead role, dealing with responsibility without clear authority or trying to change a pattern that keeps returning in your projects.

Coaching & Mentoring gives you space to examine the real situation, understand what is making it difficult and decide what to do next.

You bring the project, conversation or decision. I bring questions, structure and more than ten years of experience leading technical companies and working with engineers, project managers and clients.

We can work on situations such as:

  • preparing a high-stakes client conversation;

  • handling scope, priorities or conflicting expectations;

  • translating technical expertise into clear advice;

  • stepping into lead-engineer or project responsibility;

  • delegating while protecting quality;

  • navigating a decision when responsibility and authority do not match.

This is not an abstract conversation about becoming a better version of yourself.

We work on what is happening in your role now — and what you can do differently.

You want confidential, personal support and direct feedback on your own working situation.

Suitable for Management Executives , freelancers & company funded development.

Built around technical work.

Not adapted to it afterwards.

Most business training starts with a generic model and adds an engineering example at the end.

CTD starts with the project itself: incomplete information, technical dependencies, changing requirements, commercial limits, quality standards and people who need to make a decision.

That means:

  • practical tools instead of abstract advice;

  • real engineering cases instead of artificial role-play;

  • respect for technical depth and evidence;

  • attention to both individual skill and organisational conditions;

  • clear reasoning you can test and apply independently.

I developed CTD after more than ten years as a Managing and Commercial Director in offshore engineering companies. I saw technically strong people take on clients, projects and teams without being given practical preparation for the work around engineering.

CTD exists to close that gap.

Developing the engineer without changing the system is not enough.

An engineer can learn to raise a risk earlier. But someone must still own the decision.

They can discuss additional work. But they need clarity about who may agree to changes in budget or planning.

They can delegate more effectively. But only if roles, priorities and review moments support ownership.

That is why CTD does not treat every project problem as an individual skills problem. For company programmes, we also examine the working conditions required to make the new behaviour practical.
